Type Locality and Naming

Southeast Taiwan. The type section is located at 15 km to north of Taidong County, Taiwan Province. It was named by Ooe Z. in 1939.

Synonyms: Toranzan Fm; Tuluanshan Fm


Lithology and Thickness

It is characterized by the Andesitic volcanic agglomerate, weakly sorted volcanic conglomerate and sandstone with tuff, and small amount of basalt and andesite with quartz. Foraminifera fossils and nannofossils are yielded. The thickness is 1000-1500 m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

It contacts to the underlying Qimei Igneous Complex (Paleogene) with unclear relation.

Upper contact

It contacts to the overlying Dagangkou Fm with unclear relation.

Regional extent

It is distributed along the whole Haian Range.
